Connecting disciples of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami
I woke up this morning to the sad news of H.G. Devaki Mayi mataji leaving her body. Yes sad news, because it is a great loss for all her God-brothers, God-sisters and Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON movement. But on the second thought, she has reached the goal of her life, the abode of "Radha Krishna" on a very auspicious day in a very auspicious manner. What better way to leave the body when your Spiritual Master is chanting on the phone into your ears, devotees all around the world praying for you, in the holy month of Kartika. Devotees here in Bengaluru were lighting extra lamps every day for H.G Devaki Mayi Mataji's spiritual well being.
Though she had left her body in a very auspicious way, I still had some kind of botheration in some corner of my heart. I was thinking "She was so young, she would have been a great asset for ISKCON in the future". While all these thoughts were crossing my mind, I stumbled upon Srila Prabhupada's letter to Harer Nama, written on November 6, 1969. Srila Prabhupada says "If one renders even a small amount of sincere devotional service, Krishna becomes obliged to elevate such person; and what to speak of one whose entire life and soul has been dedicated to Krishna's service."
After reading this, all my botheration and sadness vanished, because I am now totally convinced that she is back with Krishna who she originally belongs to. Her life in this world though short, was probably to teach fallen souls like me, that it is not the duration of life which matters but the quality of life that you lead which really does matter.
I consider myself really, really, fortunate for having had such a wonderful person as my God-sister, and even more fortunate for being the disciple of H.H. JAYAPATAKA SWAMI, SRILA ACHARYAPADA.
All glories to H.G. Devaki Mayi Mataji,
All Glories to Patita Pavana, Srila Gurumaharaj
yours in the service of Guru and Gauranga
